這可說是Apache 10年來的代表作，經過漫長的等待與研發過程，全球最多網站主機使用的免費伺服器軟體Apache，終於在日前正式推出了新版本Apache 2.2.6，取代原先的2.2.4，Apache官方建議所有使用Apache網頁伺服器軟體的網站更新。
至於2.2.4與2.2.6之間，並沒有2.2.5，所以不用去刻意尋找，更新2.2.6即可。
以Windows平台來說，Apache 2.2.6最重要的就是能夠順利在Windows Vista上面使用，這對於近來網頁伺服器市佔率排名第一Apache節節下滑的現象會有一些幫助。而Linux等其他平台，這次的更新對安全性與穩定度有幫助。
這次Apache Httpd官方也推出Apache 2.0系列版本的更新版本Apache 2.0.61。
而原本Apache 1.0系列的用戶，仍舊是維持Apache 1.3.39的更新版本。
